mum Purpose
"world"
has two meanings.
One is "people all over the world" who are unaware of the wonderfulness of Japanese food and food culture.
Therefore, in accordance with this purpose, we will open stores globally, overseas. Not only stores, but also purchasing, logistics, and production will be taken out into the world ourselves.
The other is the "new world" of Enchant that we want the people in front of us to experience. We want them to encounter a world of surprise and excitement — discovering such deliciousness, such hospitality, and such craftsmanship as part of Enchant.
There are connections between these two. For example, we have just started a charcoal business in partnership with a timber company in Laos.
Wood that was traded for next to nothing locally takes on an entirely different value when traded as charcoal for the eel restaurants run by mum.
We at mum can even enchant people from around the world with a new world that they would never have known before meeting us.
In mum Purpose, the word"Enchant"
has two meanings.
One is to showcase the "wonderfulness of Japanese food and food culture."
mum inherits the splendor of Japanese food and food culture — nurtured by Japan’s history and climate, and cultivated by producers, artisans, and chefs — and continues to enchant people.
The other is to showcase the "technology, people's thoughts, attitudes, and teamwork that have been passed down within mum."
We continue to hone each individual's skills, passion, hospitality, and interpersonal abilities to face people and work, and we enchant everyone involved with us.
Every single person at mum, and every single job, is polished down to the smallest detail to a level of true Enchant. We are able to embody Enchant because we make absolutely no compromises. We will continue to be at a level of Enchant not only in what is visible to customers, what is on the surface, but also behind the scenes — even in our own state of mind. To achieve this, we work hard together and demonstrate our teamwork.

Japanese food culture is not just something we at mum are responsible for. It is not something that only we at mum are responsible for. Japanese food culture, which existed before we were born, is truly great.
It is important for us, as people involved in Japanese food culture, to pay respect to this greatness.

The mum group was named after mum, which means mother, with the implication that it will "give birth" to a new world.
We don't use the word "value" when talking about what we create. Value is something that is decided by the other party, the customer.
At the mum group, we aim to ensure that the people we interact with every day (at our Passion Geeks store, Nakasho Shoten wholesaler, and Nakasho Center for production and logistics) feel value in the food, service, and communication we provide.

It's all about people, what each of us has, and what we create together.
What do the people at mum Group have? One is passion. We call this passion the source of heat that inspires, influences, and moves the hearts of everyone involved.
The other is technology. Culture is the fruit of people's wisdom and technology. Passion alone can create trends, but it cannot create culture. We do not create trends that go in and out of fashion, but rather connect culture. To achieve this, we continue to hone our technology.

Food is an essential part of human life — something we encounter every day. And precisely because we handle living ingredients, we are committed to continuing to enchant. Our Purpose is to continue to enchant the world of everyone: the customers who visit our stores to spend precious moments, the producers and chefs who work with ingredients every day, the store staff who connect customers with ingredients, and the employees who support their work and our company.
